✏️ reasoning with the rain

she has soft angles
touching me like a secret, slipping her wet off the
slick of my skin

we court
in an ample purgatory of intimacy and space
she is beneath me, beside me
above me, beyond me
sliding between my feet on Chelsea sidewalks
as she dives off an uptown building

my loose overcoat presses into her fickle storm
blending with the rest as traffic thickens into
a bruise of somber colors

merging into gray
we feebly feed her darkness
as she consumes us with voracious ease

I accept her cold embrace with a forced kiss
all her broken stems and fallen petals
all her sullen hopes sweet in surrender
an inconvenient affair of waiting
for her to move on
